This exquisite case was designed by Tanno Masakage in 2009. Tanno Masakage originally learned his skills in woodworking from his father, Norio Masakage. He has gone on to create his own line of wooden products while maintaining the traditions of his father. Based in Asahikawa, Japan, he continually pushes the boundaries of wood with his exceptionally detailed cases.
Except for a spring, every single part of this beautifully crafted "free case" is is wooden - a testament to Masakage's superb wood working techniques and meticulous calculations. The bottom of the inner case is delicately lined with cork.
Beyond its inherent beauty, there is a trick hidden within the holder. By pressing on the small wooden square on top, the inside case automatically pops out! A little bit of magic! You'll love the wabi sabi feel, the smell of the wood, the maker's careful crafting, an object of function and beauty that makes it worthy. It would make a very much treasured gift too!
