Designer Tanno Masakage invented this beautiful looking wooden business card holder in 2009, and has been producing it ever since in his workshop in Asahikawa City in Hokkaido. It won first place for craftsmanship and design in the Takaoka Crafts Competition in 2010.
Except for a spring, every single part of this beautifully crafted case is is wooden - a testament to Masakage's superb wood working techniques and meticulous calculations. The size is only 0.35 inches, which is thin enough to be comfortable in a front pocket.
Beyond its inherent beauty, there is a trick hidden within the holder. By pressing on the small wooden square on top, the inside case automatically pops out! There is also a hole cut on bottom of the inside case to make it easier to pop or pull a card out, which shows Tanno Masakage truly cares about the users of his product.

You didn't know you needed one of these, but you will wonder why you never did....the wabi sabi feel, the smell of the wood, the maker's careful crafting, an object of function and beauty that makes it worthy. It would make a very much treasured gift too!!
