These whimsical wooden animals from T-Lab Japan have been loved and collected in Japan for over 10 years and have finally made it to Australia.
"Pole pole"(poh-leh poh-leh) means slowly, slowly in Swahili and describes how these animals are created. Each animal is hand carved and filed from Albizia soft wood and then hand-painted with no varnish. Due to their handcrafted nature, each pole pole animal is slightly different. The 'Albizia' tree is one of the quickest growing tropical trees. These trees are sustainable because of their rapid growth. T-Lab combats deforestation by replanting every tree to repay the earth.
Each animal is carefully hand-carved from a light white wood and hand-painted by expert craftsmen. These gorgeous animals are made by the artisans of a dedicated workshop in the village of Tirabo, Bali in Indonesia.
