A simple two-part draining soap dish from Tochigi Prefecture, Japan.
The dovetail joinery is beautiful and very strong and adds a touch of class to any bathroom.
It has a removable tray to allow your soap bar to drain and dry.
The soapdish is made from hinoki, a type of slow-growing cypress native to the central Japanese islands.
This is traditionally the timber preferred for the construction of temples, shrines, and especially wooden bathtubs. Prized for its high oil content, Hinoki has been used for centuries in Japanese baths because of its water repellent and deodorizing qualities.
Hinoki grows straight and knot-free, and the lightly lemon-scented timber is resistant to insect attack, mold growth, moisture, and rot.
Measures approximately L15cm by D10cm by H3.5cm
Made in Tochigi Prefecture, Japan.
